Dr. Yuki Hanyu co-founded in 2014 the "Shojinmeat Project", a citizen science community for DIY open-source cultured meat in Japan. Based on the low-cost cell culture methods developed, IntegriCulture Inc. spun off in 2015. The company builds a cellular agriculture infrastructure by offering its species and cell type agnostic large-scale cell culture technology (“CulNet® system”) to institutions of all sizes such as farmers, chefs, startups, supply chains, manufactures and bioactive ingredient companies.
