Ken-ichi Kawamoto has been in his current position since July 2023. He joined MITI (Ministry of International Trade and Industry, currently METI (Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry) in 1990 and has ever held various positions, including Deputy Director-General for Industrial and Product Safety of METI and President of JETRO (Japan External Trade Organization), New York. He is responsible for policy and planning of the EXPO 2025 OSAKA, KANSAI, JAPAN. In his personal life, he is also a serious citizen runner who has completed all 6 of World Marathon Majors under 3 hours.
