Nat has worked on international standardization of digital identity and privacy-related technologies, and the specifications he created, such as OpenID Connect, JWT, and FAPI, are currently used by over 3 billion people worldwide. He has been Chairman of the OpenID Foundation in the United States since 2011, Chairman of MyData Japan since 2019, Chairman of the BGIN IKP WG since 2020, and Digital Special Advisor to the Japan Fair Trade Commission since 2021.
