Yo Okada
Counsellor, Secretariat of New Form of Capitalism Realization Headquarters, Cabinet Secretariat
Yo Okada currently serves as Counsellor at the Secretariat of New Form of Capitalism Realization Headquarters of Japan’s Cabinet Secretariat, where he has been orchestrating comprehensive coordination of regulatory sandbox and startup support measures since 2022. He is also a Consulting Fellow at the Research Institute of Economy, Trade and Industry.
Previously, Yo formulated the White Paper on International Economy and Trade 2022 as Director of the Policy Planning and Research Office at the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI). From 2017 to 2020, he served as a diplomat in France, where he worked on economic and commercial affairs as well as a strategic bid campaign for EXPO 2025 at the Embassy of Japan in France. Prior to working in Paris, he engaged in TPP (Trans-Pacific Partnership) negotiations at the TPP Headquarters of the Cabinet Secretariat from 2013 to 2017. In 2006, he joined the METI, where he has been in charge of macroeconomic, trade and economic security policies.
Yo holds an LLB degree from the University of Tokyo, and an MPP degree from the University of Chicago.
