Shuji was Deputy Director-General of Payment and Settlement Systems of the Bank of Japan. Currently, he is a member of the Ministy of Finance's Expert Panel on CBDC. He is also an auditor of Japanese Banks' Payment Clearing Network (Zengin-Net), a board member of Japan Virtual and Crypto assets Exchange Association, and an auditor of Japan Association for Financial APIs. He holds D.Phil and M.Phil from the University of Oxford.
