Akira Kamo is Professor of Civil Law, the University of Tokyo (UT), Graduate Schools for Law and Politics. After graduating from UT in 2003, he joined UT as Research Associate (2003-2006), Associate Professor (2006-2019) and Professor (2019-present). He also served as Provisional Member, Industrial Structure Council, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Japan (2018-2020); Expert Member, Financial System Council, Financial Service Agency, Japan (2014-2020); Secretary, Legislative Council of the Ministry of Justice, Japan (2022-2024). He specializes in trust and estates, financial law, and payment service law.
