He received his Ph.D. from the Graduate School of Frontier Sciences, the University of Tokyo. While his continuing his research activities as a junior faculty in plant pathology field, he launched R&D section of Leave a Nest. Since then, he kept developing novel concepts and business models to connect industry and academia. "Lnest Grant", a unique private research grant for academician, and "L-RAD," a platform of unused research ideas are his masterpieces. He is being actively involved in many projects that connects various stakeholders, such as multinational corporations, academic researchers, and agri-tech startups.
