He is currently a professor at Graduate School of Environmental Studies, Nagoya University. He is also associate member of Science Council of Japan (Environmental Science). After working for the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity, Montréal, Canada from 2006 to 2008, he served as Associate Professor at Nagoya City University, Graduate School of Human and Socio- Environmental Studies, Kanazawa University. He served as a professor at Graduate School of Environmental Studies, Tohoku University.
