received the BS, MS, and PhD degrees in electrical engineering from Hokkaido University. He is currently a professor at the RCIQE, Hokkaido University. His research interests include CMOS sensing, signal processing (AI algorithms and their SW/HW systems) and how it could be applied for human well-being. Previously, he was engaged in R&D for wireless and image processing systems at DNP Corporation. He was a visiting researcher at d.lab, University of Tokyo and at the NHK Technical Research Institute. He also serves as a vice director of the Next Generation Telemedicine Development Centre, Hokkaido University Hospital.
