Kazutoshi Sugimura joined the Bank of Japan in 2009. After working as a deputy director of the Monetary Affairs Department and a director of the Personnel and Corporate Affairs Department, he is now working as a director of the Payment and Settlement Systems Department, serving as a secretariat for the Bank's CBDC Forum and engaging in related research. He received an LL.M. from New York University (2013) and an LL.B. from the University of Tokyo (2009).
