Hiromi Yamaoka assumed various positions in the Bank of Japan, including the Director-General of Markets Department and the Director-General of Payment and Settlement Systems Department. He also served as the Alternate Executive Director for Japan in the International Monetary Fund, the Member of the Basel Committee for Banking Supervision, the Member of the Markets Committee, the Member of the Committee on Payments and Market Infrastructure (CPMI) of the Bank for International Settlements (BIS). He is now serving as the chairperson of the Digital Currency Forum, which consists of leading companies and mega-banks in Japan.
