Joined the Bank of Japan (BOJ) in 1981. As a central banker, he had senior positions in International Department and also at the Bank for International Settlements (BIS). He holds a Ph.D. in Economics and also teaches at Waseda University.　He is known as an author of several must-read books, including “All about Payment Systems” and “After Bitcoin”.
